Elevator operators told which services are in the greatest demand among farmers

Oleksandr Shutov, general director of the elevator division of Prometheus Group, said this in an interview "This season, grain cleaning service is in great demand at elevators" on Elevatorist.com.

He noted that the remaining elevators worked with barley, wheat, corn, sunflower and rapeseed. Sunflower became the most profitable crop last season.

Wheat, barley, rapeseed, soybeans, corn and sunflower are accepted this season.

"Compared to last season's indicators, at this stage wheat, rapeseed, soybean and sunflower were harvested 20% more than last year. This year, the grain yield is higher, and due to the closed ports, farmers have less choice where to plant grain. The so-called sales "from the wheels" almost do not take place, the products are mostly taken to storage," Oleksandr Shutov said.

According to him, the most requested service at the Group's elevators is currently storage and finishing. Due to the closure of the grain corridor and the ban on the export of Ukrainian grain to 5 EU countries, the price of grain fell. Therefore, farmers take grain to elevators, hoping that the situation will change, and they will be able to sell products at better prices.

"Regarding the processing of grain, the garbage cleaning service is in great demand. This is due to the fact that farmers in the spring and autumn had a shortage of fertilizers, they were not able to apply fertilizers in sufficient quantities to the sown areas, so the grain to the elevators of the Prometheus Group this year is going with a rather high amount of garbage," explained the general director elevator unit.

He also added that the cost of elevator services of Prometheus Group in the new season did not change, which was last year and remained the same.

"For example, if we take drying, we managed to purchase gas and other energy carriers in advance at optimal prices. Thanks to this, we will be able not to raise tariffs during the season and remain competitive on the market," Oleksandr Shutov added.
