In Kirovohrad Oblast, the harvest is better than last year — OVA

The 2023 harvest has begun in Kirovohrad Oblast. They are harvesting winter barley, peas and rapeseed. Sospilne informs.
As noted, there are only three and a half thousand farms in the region. So far, 40 of them have started to harvest where the weather permits.
Barley yield at the start of harvesting was 4.8 t/ha, last year it was 3.5 t/ha.
As Valeriya Furmanova, head of the Department of Agro-Industrial Development, noted, the winter barley harvest is better than last year.
"There were positive conditions in the spring period: precipitation, low temperature, as a result of which barley had a good productivity," the official explained.
At the same time, there are problems with qualified personnel in the farms of the region. Due to the mobilization, there is a shortage of agronomists, mechanics and drivers. So you have to work overtime.
Valeriya Furmanova said that before the start of the harvest, it was calculated that the farms lacked 200 workers of various specialties.
"These are machine operators, agronomists, and various specialties. This need was partly covered by the employment service, partly by our own efforts," Valeriia Furmanova added.
