Poland unblocked the transit of Ukrainian grain

Ukraine and Poland reached an understanding on the transit of Ukrainian grain. It will be unlocked on the night of Thursday, April 20 to Friday, April 21. This was announced by the First Deputy Prime Minister - the Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyridenko following the negotiations that took place in Warsaw.

"We treat the problems of our Polish colleagues with the same attention as Poland treats our problems. Therefore, we have to respond promptly and constructively to this crisis situation," explained Yuliya Svyridenko.

According to her, the Ukrainian government is currently waiting for an official response from the Polish side regarding the technical aspects of transporting products through the territory of Poland.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Agriculture of Poland, Robert Telus, confirmed the achievement of an agreement with Ukraine on the restoration of the transit of agricultural products through Polish territory — it was suspended along with the ban on imports.

According to the minister, grain cargoes from Ukraine passing through Poland will be accompanied and controlled using the SENT system, that is, they will be sealed with GPS trackers. This will make it possible to track them to find out if they really left Poland.

The Polish minister assured that "not a single ton of Ukrainian agricultural products will remain in Poland."

"Each transport will be accompanied by a convoy through Poland for a certain period of time," he added.

Warsaw expects that by July 2023, surplus grain - about four million tons - will be removed from Poland to make way for a new crop.

We will remind you that on Saturday, April 15, the Polish government decided to ban the import of agricultural products originating from or imported from the territory of Ukraine. It is about banning imports even in transit. This resolution entered into force on the day of its publication and will be effective, as noted, until June 30.

On April 17, the Minister of Agriculture of Poland, Telus, visited the border post, where he stated that no transport with agricultural products from Ukraine had entered the territory of Poland since the decree came into force.

As reported by the State Customs Service, Polish control authorities return to the territory of Ukraine from the territory of the Republic of Poland vehicles moving goods of groups 1-24 according to the UCT of the ZED (products of animal and vegetable origin, cereals, meal, ready-made food products, fats and oils, etc. ).
