The 2023 harvest campaign has begun in Lviv Oblast

The agrarians of the Lviv Region have started the 2023 harvest campaign. Currently, the harvesting of the first ripe crops of winter barley is underway. This was reported in the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of the Lviv Regional State Administration.

"This year's harvest campaign began in the usual agronomic terms for the Lviv region, despite the cool spring and the excessive level of moisture in the soil at the beginning of the harvest. But we hope that these obstacles will not affect the yield. We expect to collect grains at least a year ago," said Tetyana Hetman, director of the department.

As noted, according to operational data of the department, the area of winter barley crops in Lviv region in 2023 is 17.3 thousand hectares in all categories of farms, of which 13.9 thousand hectares are in agricultural enterprises.

In general, the area of grain crops in the region is 323.2 thousand hectares, which is less than last year by 5 thousand hectares (1.5%), but technical crops (winter and spring rapeseed, soybean) increased by 6.3 thousand. ha (3%).

With the next crops after winter barley, farmers are preparing to harvest crops of winter wheat and winter rapeseed.

By the way, as of June 30, harvesting of barley, wheat and peas continues in Ukraine. Harvesting was carried out on an area of 66.2 thousand hectares with a yield of 3.28 tons/year. 216.9 thousand tons of the new crop were threshed:

winter barley — 205.5 thousand tons from an area of 61.5 thousand hectares with a yield of 3.35 tons/ha;

peas - 7.6 thousand tons from 3.6 thousand ha with a yield of 2.11 tons/ha;

winter wheat — 3.8 thousand tons, threshed — 1.1 thousand ha with a yield of 3.45 tons/ha.

Also, the farmers of Odesa region started harvesting rapeseed, they threshed 0.7 thousand hectares and threshed 0.9 thousand tons of seeds with a yield of 1.29 tons/ha.
