The EU finally approved the continuation of preferential trade with Ukraine

The European Union has finally approved "trade visa-free" for Ukraine. This is duty-free and quota-free trade for another year.

This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

He noted that this is an important support for Ukrainian producers, exports and the economy.

"We continue integration into the EU at an accelerated pace," Denys Shmyhal emphasized.

As noted on the website of the European Commission, the updated rules will enter into force on June 6 and will be valid until June 5, 2025.

According to the new rules, the European Commission can quickly react and apply the measures it deems necessary in the event of serious problems on the EU market or one or more member countries due to Ukrainian agricultural imports.

Safeguards are provided for poultry meat, eggs, oats, cereals, corn and honey. If imports exceed the average volumes of imports in the second half of 2021 and in 2022-2023, the tariffs may be restored.

As a reminder, the EU introduced autonomous measures for trade with Ukraine from June 4, 2022, to support Ukrainian producers and the economy in conditions where the country is forced to defend itself against the background of Russian aggression.
