The operation of the grain corridor is under threat — Ministry of Infrastructure

On April 17, the Russian side again blocked inspections of vessels in Turkish territorial waters. Kyiv hopes that the UN and Turkey will influence the situation.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine.
As noted, since April 10, the Russian side has unilaterally stopped the registration of vessels submitted to Ukrainian ports to form an inspection plan. Instead, the Russians form their own inspection plan, choosing vessels from the queue at their discretion, which, as the ministry emphasizes, is completely contrary to the terms of the initiative and unacceptable to Ukraine.
"As a result, for the second time in the 9 months of operation of the grain corridor, an inspection plan has not been drawn up and not a single vessel has been inspected. This endangers the functioning of the "Grain Initiative," the report says.
As US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink reported, there are more than 50 ships in the Bosphorus Strait that transport agricultural products from Ukraine as part of the grain agreement. Their passage to the Black Sea is blocked by Russia.
"Now more than 50 ships are waiting in the Bosphorus Strait for permission to go to Ukrainian ports to load grain that will feed those who need it. "Russia is trying to strangle the Ukrainian economy and slow down the flow of food instead of complying with the terms of the agreement," she emphasized.
Meanwhile, today, April 18, Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov will visit Turkey at the invitation of Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar.
During the visit, the parties will discuss the "grain agreement", which Russia is trying to disrupt by blocking inspections of vessels in Turkish territorial waters.
