The Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) has revised its crop forecast for 2024. It now projects a corn harvest of 25.5 million tons, which is 800,000 tons less than the previous estimate and 4.1 million tons less than last year.
This was reported by the UGA press service.
"In the new season, the corn harvest will decrease due to the potential reduction in planted areas and dry periods in several regions. Meanwhile, potential exports could amount to about 20.5 million tons (this season, exports are expected to be around 26 million tons)," the statement said.
Regarding wheat, the UGA forecasts a harvest of 19.1 million tons, which is 900,000 tons less than the previous estimate (22 million tons in 2023). Potential wheat exports in the 2024/2025 marketing year could be around 13 million tons, considering that carryover stocks at the beginning of the season will be about 2.4 million tons. The sunflower harvest is also expected to decrease to 13.7 million tons (14.2 million tons in 2023).
