Ukraine has already received UAH 700 million for the demining of agricultural lands

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Ukraine has already received UAH 700 million in aid for demining agricultural lands and other territories from 30 international organizations and funds, the donors of which are the leading countries of the world: the USA, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Estonia, Poland.

This was reported by the Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy.

Among the mentioned assistance, in particular: 11 mechanized demining machines, more than 160 pickups for the transportation of personnel and equipment, more than 600 metal detectors.

As noted in the department, the equipment has already started working in priority directions, where specialists use such equipment to perform demining tasks. With the help of the provided machines, more than 90 hectares of the territories of Ukraine were cleared of dangerous objects.

"However, the demining process is hampered by constant shelling by Russian troops, which, in turn, again contaminates the territories that have already been cleared. Also, the enemy uses mining systems, which are prohibited according to international conventions," added the land committee.

Also, a project to clean agricultural land from mines and other explosive objects will be launched in Ukraine under the auspices of the World Food Program of the United Nations (WFP), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in cooperation with the Swiss Mine Action Fund.

This initiative is aimed at the farmers and rural families most affected by hostilities, who grow products for themselves and have plots of land up to 300 hectares.

The program has already been launched in the Kharkiv region and is planned to be extended to Kherson region and Mykolaiv region. It is noted that the program will help return land to use, as well as restore agricultural production in Ukraine.
