Ukraine will sue the Polish carriers blocking the border

Ukraine and Poland are preparing lawsuits regarding compensation for damages caused by the blocking of border crossing points due to the rally of Polish carriers. This was stated by Volodymyr Balin, vice president of the Association of International Motor Carriers AsMAP, Ukrinform writes.

"The situation is actually critical, and today we are talking about the fact that we already have legal support in Poland. The lawyers received two tasks. The first task is to unblock the situation as soon as possible. The second task is to find out who is to blame and who will pay for these damages. We are working on this together with our colleagues," Volodymyr Balin explained.

According to him, Ukrainian carriers are already preparing lawsuits and there are Polish lawyers who are ready to submit these lawsuits to the strikers in Poland.

Meanwhile, according to Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine Serhiy Derkach, Polish protesters who block crossing points on the border with Ukraine, despite promises, often do not let even cargoes with humanitarian aid and fuel pass through.

"We recorded numerous facts when fuel tankers and humanitarian trucks are standing in queues. We are passing on information about these cases to our Polish colleagues from the Ministry," wrote Serhiy Derkach.

As the Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov noted, queues of trucks waiting at the border stretch from 10 to 30 kilometers

Direct coordinators are currently working at checkpoints in Jagodina, Ravi-Ruska, and Krakivka, whose main task is to provide drivers with food, water, medicine, and fuel. About 11,000 food kits have already been delivered.

"The Ministry will facilitate the evacuation of drivers to the territory of Ukraine, if such a need arises," Oleksandr Kubrakov said.

We will remind you that the recent negotiations between Ukrainian government officials and Polish carriers did not bring success. The latter have been blocking the three largest checkpoints on the border with Poland since November 6. These are the checkpoints "Grebenne - Rava-Ruska", "Korchova - Krakowiec", "Dorogusk - Yagodin".

According to experts, small and medium-sized farmers suffer the most from this blockade.

Meanwhile, the European Commission threatened Poland with punishment for further blockade of checkpoints. Despite this, representatives of Polish carriers announced plans to expand the strike and block another checkpoint on the border with Ukraine, "Medyka - Sheghini".
