Ukrainian TAD grain carriers have competitive advantages over European ones

The TAD company is the largest manufacturer of trailers for oversized transportation in Ukraine. This is stated in the article "TAD: a company from Khmelnytskyi that produces cool special equipment for the agricultural sector" on Latifundist.com.
The model range is represented by such types of equipment as Classic, Jumbo, Mega and Trailer, which differ in various options for equipment, carrying capacity and equipment. In particular, they can have 2-10 axles and up to 150 tons of payload. After a full-scale invasion, the company also began manufacturing medium-tonnage vehicles for transporting up to 20 tons of cargo - a chassis with a body.
Sales manager Artem Melnyk noted that a new segment of work is the production of tractor-trailers for farms engaged in vegetable growing and gardening.
In general, the capacities allow TAD to manufacture about 25 units of various equipment per month. Last year, the company produced 260 units of equipment. The lion's share is grain carriers and trawlers.
TAD grain trucks are made of the same components as European ones, but have competitive advantages. First, a lower price. Secondly, the grain truck is made specifically for the client.
"European companies focus primarily on their market. The Ukrainian market differs in operating conditions, drivers' mentality, etc. So, when the Ukrainian customer wants to introduce some individual solutions into the design, the large European manufacturer will simply refuse him - he will not mess around with one order. And we are a more customer-oriented company and respond to all the demands of the consumer so that he gets the maximum benefit from the operation of the equipment," explained Vitaly Melnyk, owner and general director of TAD.
In his turn, Artem Melnyk draws attention to the widespread practice in Ukraine of agrarians driving grain trucks directly to the field during the harvest. It is good when it happens in dry weather. In rainy weather, those grain trucks have to be pulled out of the field by tractors. Therefore, it is not surprising that after 3-4 years of operation in European lightweight nanotrailers, the frame and body crack.
"When we were developing our model of equipment, we visited farms and asked what problems there were with the operation of their grain trucks. We were looking for a "golden mean" - so that our model was not heavy, and at the same time strong. This is how we came to the parameters that will be optimal, based on the operating conditions of the equipment in our local Ukrainian market, and will take into account the maximum number of requirements and wishes of our partners," explained Artem Melnyk.
Therefore, compared to the European grain truck, the Ukrainian one has a difference of 200 kg. According to Artem Melnyk, their grain trucks have already covered more than 300,000 km and have never had any complaints about the body and frame.
Due to the hype for TAD grain trucks last year, many had to be turned away. So this year they are forming a certain warehouse stock.
