Wheat harvest exceeds last year by more than 10%

As of August 24, Ukrainian agricultural producers threshed 28.76 million tons of new crop grain. Kurkul.com writes about it.

Harvesting of early grain and leguminous crops was carried out on an area of 6.53 million hectares (60% of the forecast) with a yield of 4.4 t/ha.

In terms of cultures, the following are threshed:

wheat — 21.93 million tons from an area of 4.46 million hectares (100% to the forecast), average yield — 4.72 tons/ha;

barley — 5.76 million tons from an area of 1.48 million hectares (99%), yield — 3.89 tons/ha;

peas — 385.64 thousand tons from an area of 154.02 thousand ha (103%), yield — 2.5 tons/ha;

buckwheat — 2.92 thousand tons from an area of 1.98 thousand hectares (1%), yield — 1.47 tons/ha;

millet — 14.42 thousand tons from an area of 8.21 thousand hectares (10%), yield — 1.76 tons/ha.

As of the reporting date, the following are the leaders in grain yield:

Khmelnytskyi — 6.45 t/ha;

Vinnytsia — 5.79 t/ha;

Cherkasy — 5.64 t/ha;

Ternopil Region — 5.48 t/ha;

Poltava region — 5.43 t/ha.

At the same time, the largest sheaf of grain was threshed by agrarians:

Odeshchyna — 3.2 million tons with an average yield of 3.13 tons/ha;

Dnipro Oblast — 2.6 million tons with an average yield of 3.9 tons/ha;

Vinnytsia region — 2.34 million tons with an average yield of 5.79 tons/ha;

Kirovohrad Oblast — 2.06 million tons with an average yield of 4.44 tons/ha.

According to the data, 21.9 million tons of wheat were harvested in the 2023 season, which is 2.5 million tons more than in 2022. The farmers of the Dnipro region threshed the most — 1.99 million tons.

Also this year, the grain yield is also higher — 4.4 t/ha compared to 4.1 t/ha in 2022. The highest yield is for farmers in Khmelnytskyi (6.7 t/ha), Vinnytsia (6.1 t/ha) and Cherkasy ( 6 t/ha).

As of the reporting date, harvesting of winter rape continues. 1.38 million hectares were threshed (97% to the forecast), 3.98 million tons of seeds were threshed with a yield of 2.87 tons/ha.

We will remind, according to analysts' forecasts, the production of rapeseed in Ukraine may reach a new historical maximum, amounting to 4.2 million tons (+5% to the previous estimate; +17% by 2022).
